Joeann Knights shared 13 beautiful years with her pit bull mix, Poppy. From raising Poppy’s pups to exploring their hometown of Lowestoft, UK, their bond was unbreakable. Poppy, with her freckled face and mostly black ear, brought endless joy to Joeann’s life. On tough days, just looking at Poppy would comfort her. “I never left her side in her 13 and a half years of life,” Knights shared. “She was amazing and so clever.” Poppy was known for her sharp mind and playful antics. Once, when Joeann came home, Poppy had climbed out of the living room window and couldn’t get back in. Joeann found her in the backyard, waiting patiently to be let inside. She gave her mischievous pup a big hug and laughed at her cleverness. Sadly, Poppy became seriously ill shortly before her 14th birthday. After years of adventures and love, Joeann had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye. As Poppy crossed the rainbow bridge, Joeann promised to always cherish her memory. The loss hit Joeann hard. While she still had Poppy’s two sons to keep her company, nothing could fill the void Poppy left. But soon, Joeann started noticing strange signs that made her believe Poppy was still with her in spirit.

When Chrissy arrived at a shelter to pick up pets for Forgotten Now Family Rescue, she noticed an elderly dog clinging to his owner’s leg. The dog looked neglected and terrified. Her heart broke when she learned the owner planned to have him put down. “He was covered in flea dirt, and the smell of infection filled the room,” Chrissy told The Dodo.
